Debate, and discuss, just dont Bore me.
But the Clowns in DC cant seem to understand that.
Published on March 19, 2007 By Dr Guy In Current Events

This weekend I had the enormous joy of doing my taxes.  I still lack one form, but have a good handle on the amount on it.  Still, there was not a lot of surprises this year on my taxes.  Until I got to the end.  Remember that "tax Credit" that we got for our children (only under 16)? (A euphemistic way of saying that you actually get to keep some money to assist in the cost of raising children.)

Well, the clowns in DC have decided I don't get all of that credit.  Why?  I make too much.  So I must be rich!  Right?  Nope!  But like everything else they touch, the stink of their greed does not only gig the rich (who probably have enough of their income sheltered to not even worry about taxes), but reaches their filthy snake oily hands down into the middle class pockets and picks them.

And that is the prime reason that when I hear their lies about "Taxing the Rich", I know eventually they mean everyone that is not in poverty.

When the income tax was first enacted, it was promised that only the rich would pay, and then only on their richness - not on the cost of supporting themselves and their families.  Due to inflation and greed (the other 2 things that are inevitable in DC), the income tax started hitting not only the rich, but the middle class and the poor.  And not only on the "richness", but on the money they needed to clothe, shelter and feed their family.  Yet have you heard any snake oil politician ever say how that was a crime and should be fixed?  Yea right.

No, instead they say they have to tax the rich.  However, they will gig those "rich" today, but tomorrow it will again be the middle class paying it because they are not going to adjust their greed for inflation - figuring that they can let inflation raise taxes without the fanfare and fuss of passing more onerous laws (and the doofuses in the MSM are their willing sycophants and toadies to this sham).

So the next time you buy their snake venom (sold as a tonic for their lack of scruples and integrity) that the rich should be taxed more.  Remember.  In a few years, it will be you paying the tax - and you will not be rich.  Just middle class trying to raise a family.

They wont tell you, and they will lie through their forked tongue calling me a liar.  But the proof is in the payment, not in their lies.

i had no problem with our taxes this or any other year. got a 9K+ return from the fed and like 100 or so from the state. ...i don't remember which child credits we got this year, as i have a tax accountant who does my famiy taxes.

and to answer an inevitable follow up question,,,i have no problem with bush (or any other president in the future) raising my taxes, as long as i feel comfortable about the plan for use with the money.

Actually, this was not a followup issue.  I have a real problem with the clowns in DC raising taxes and denying they are doing it.  And that is what not indexing these things for inflation does.  Part of the tax code is indexed.  Most of it is not.

i wasn't saying it was, but usually when this topic comes up and when my income and the amount of tax comes into the discussion, i am usually asked about my willingness to have taxes raised. so, i guess i was being pre-emptive, lol.

but yeah, you are right about the indexing and it's sneaky and almost criminal, imho.

and most people don't even realize how they get slammed on payroll taxes.

If they had to write a check, they would realize it real fast! Writing checks for thousands of dollars is a good wake up call.

I think that is part of their (Libertarian) platform, and I fully support it. I dont think it is going to happen, but I can hope.

no, it's probably not. but if you can at least get people to pay attention to that particular deduction when they see it on their weekly check and do the math...and then at least imagine having to write that annual check...it might hit home.

a recent article on JU was touting how the rich do things so much differently than the poor. one thing many of them don't do is pay payroll taxes, like the rest of us "employees" do.

But another that most of them do do, which the rest of us dont, is write big checks to the government. If you have ever had to file quarterly returns, you have done that.
