Debate, and discuss, just dont Bore me.

My wife is on a crusade. To get us in the Tachy Light Show of Richmond.  Not all at once, but each year we add some more, and some more.  I figure next year we will qualify!  But it takes a long time to put up 20k lights!  So when it comes to taking them down, I am a charter member of the Procrastinators club.

Fortunately, Aunt Ginny has bestowed on their lowly serfs a 4 day weekend in the middle of January.  We not only get MLK day off, but a thing (that long predated it) called Lee-Jackson day off.  Both on around the same weekend (for the furiners - that is the weekend coming up).  So I will start boxing them up this friday, and finish by Monday (I hope).

Some here turn off their lights the day after Christmas.  Some leave them on through New Years day (at night of course).  I have always followed the 12 days of Christmas which ends on the Epiphany - Jan 6th.  So I leave them up at least until then.  But then, the weekend is only a week later!!!!!

But I am curious for you decorators.  When do you de-deck the halls?  And what have you heard about how long to leave them up?  No, we are not the ones with them still up in February.  But we squeeze a week or 2 more out of the thing just because decorating is fund (well at least beautiful).  Undecorating is just plain work!

Undeck the halls of them boughs of Holly, fa-la-la-la-la-la-la-la..........

At least when we got to Minnesota I was okay.

Well, being out of town for Christmas, that makes sense. Hope you had a great one!

Luckily, we don't put any lights up outside...when you live in the country, not many people will even see it...which kinda defeats the purpose.

I always wonder about that. I have seen some houses in the country that are decked out! (we have a house down in a rural area). I guess they do it for themselves, as very few others will see them. But then dont we all do it for ourselves?

My mom always takes hers down the day after Christmas.
But here in Sweden it is more traditional to take them down around the 13th of January.
We took our Christmas tree down yesterday, or rather the husband did, but the rest of the decorations are still up.

Great!  Now I am Svedish!

Mine are coming down this weekend, so that works for me.

We usually, or make that, I usually take ours down the weekend after New Year's Day. In fact, I had that lovely task yesterday evening! It was so much fun! (not!)LOL! The kids didn't want to help, it wasn't as much fun as putting it up and my 5 y.o. wanted the tree to stay up all year!LOL!

Well Doc,  here it is Sept. and while shopping at Wallyworld,  I saw....gasp....you guess it!  Christmas decorations!

Does this mean they STILL haven't taken theirs' down?  or are they putting them up before HALLOWEEN even gets here??!

This year,  mine will stay up indefinitely!

Christmas decorations!

YAY! That means they'll be setting out the Christmas endcaps.

I have a promise to the girls based on getting them a keyboard if they practice their autoharp faithfully. So far, they're keeping their end of the bargain.
