Within the next 10 years, what many conservaives have called for, and most democrats have decried, may come to pass.  A Flat Tax.  And what does congress need to do to make it so?  Nothing.

That is right.  If congress does nothing, the effect will be to make all taxpayers making less than a million dollars a year, pay a flat tax.  With no deductions.  Basically the 1040 form will become 3 lines.

How you might ask?  Simple.  Within that time frame, almost all taxpayers (those paying some tax) will be subject to the Alternate Minimum Tax.  And you know who passed that law?  Democrats.  And Why?  To soak the rich.  But as with all "soak the rich" taxes, the tax is being visited upon and felt the hardest by the middle class.  What was considered Rich 40 years ago, today is middle class.

How does the AMT work?  Well, if you deduct too many deductions, it kicks in.  Now we all know about the children deduction and mortgage deduction.  But some dont know about (because they have none) the State Tax Deduction.  And that can add up quickly.

And the greatest irony of it all?  The Highest tax states in the nation are all blue states!  Yep!  The ones that love democrats are getting screwed by the ones they voted for! 

So as you hear the democrats yell about repealing the tax cuts "but only on the rich!", just remember, to them, you are probably rich.  Even if you have 4 kids a mortgage and debt up to your eyeballs.  You are still rich by democrat standards.
