Yea, my articles and time on JU has been curtailed. For the first time since I joined, I am actually able to do my job without 'The Captain' or his Grima doing the finger pointing game! So each day I work a hard day (sometimes 12 hours now), and I love it!
I would love to say that I have gotten more accomplished in the last week, than in the preceding 3 years, but that would be an exaggeration. Not a big one! Not by much.
Since his departure, I have managed to gain control of all the storage (I always had all the servers, but being Dell, they rarely need attention), and about 75% of the switches. And working in conjunction with the "enemy", we have managed to isolate a circuit problem to the vendor (who continues to hem and haw, but we got the goods on them).
One of my co-workers is still in the defensive mode. By that I mean, when you have such a lousy boss that you become afraid to try to fix problems for fear of succeeding, and he not knowing what you did, you stop fixing things. Such is my co-worker now. We can fix a user easily. He refuses to. While I have seniority on him, I do not have power over him. SO I will do it.
I suspect that the 'cowed dog' attitude among my co-workers is going to take some time to dissipate. I have seen it before. And I hate it. But I know many live that way.
Time to show these guys that we can do it, and we don't need "The Captain" to cover our puts (like a pair of pants with a split seem!). So yes, it is tiring and stressful!
But I love it!
