Debate, and discuss, just dont Bore me.

Yea, my articles and time on JU has been curtailed.  For the first time since I joined, I am actually able to do my job without 'The Captain' or his Grima doing the finger pointing game!  So each day I work a hard day (sometimes 12 hours now), and I love it!

I would love to say that I have gotten more accomplished in the last week, than in the preceding 3 years, but that would be an exaggeration.  Not a big one!  Not by much.

Since his departure, I have managed to gain control of all the storage (I always had all the servers, but being Dell, they rarely need attention), and about 75% of the switches.  And working in conjunction with the "enemy", we have managed to isolate a circuit problem to the vendor (who continues to hem and haw, but we got the goods on them).

One of my co-workers is still in the defensive mode.  By that I mean, when you have such a lousy boss that you become afraid to try to fix problems for fear of succeeding, and he not knowing what you did, you stop fixing things.  Such is my co-worker now.  We can fix a user easily.  He refuses to.  While I have seniority on him, I do not have power over him.  SO I will do it.

I suspect that the 'cowed dog' attitude among my co-workers is going to take some time to dissipate.  I have seen it before.  And I hate it.  But I know many live that way.

Time to show these guys that we can do it, and we don't need "The Captain" to cover our puts (like a pair of pants with a split seem!).  So yes, it is tiring and stressful!

But I love it!

Hey Doc,

I haven't been around much lately either, as you know. I have been very busy both at work and at home (and the band has a big show coming up very shortly as well). All this has conspired to lessen my blogging time.

but being Dell, they rarely need attention

This bodes well for my recent purchase, a Dell Inspiron laptop. I'm pretty impressed with it so far but I'm still waiting for broadband to be connected before I can actually do anything from home. I ordered the laptop online and was pleasantly surprised with the amount of goodies they threw in for 'free' (I'm cynical enough to know these things probably didn't cost Dell anything or at most, virtually nothing).

Anyway, I'm glad you don't have the ogre's eye on you so much at the moment, particularly if it means you can get on and get things done.

Hope this finds you well, mate.

You sound all fired up Doc! It is good to hear that you are enjoying the job.

Isn't it amazing how one person can poison a work environment? I'm glad that things are going better at work even if you are busy, busy, busy.

Hope your concert goes well!  As for the laptops, I am not as impressed.  I bought my wife one as well, and we have had to replace the keyboard already (not a big deal, but I was not pleased they wanted me to do it).  Still, the part got here fast, so I cant complain about their service in that regard.

Best of luck to you!  Hope you get your broadband soon.

Um,......Let me check.  Yep!  They are my pants.

A boss can fire you up, or demoralize you.  I had the latter, so yes, I am fired up!  Thanks.

I have been very fortunate in that most of my bosses have been good.  I guess I was due for a buffoon.

A bad boss can really cause a lot of personnel problems. I'm happy for ya.

Thank's Mason.  Yes they can.

Thanks mate. We're certainly rehearsing hard enough for it. The day should be a lot of fun and we're all looking forward to it.

Oh, dammit, I was hoping you'd back and say the Dell laptops are the best you've ever used . Fancy having to replace the keyboard on a laptop? I'll have to remember to be gentle with mine, I guess. So far I'm pleased with it, though.

Well, that is the second laptop from Dell that had that problem.  As far as the best, I have used Gateway and Sony, and am not impressed with either of those either.  So I do like the dell, I just make sure I get the extended warranty!
