Ok, I know that at the current time, women have a right to an abortion. But apparently some people think that "right" should be made mandatory if it is their daughter, regardless of her age.
It appears that a woman, 19 years old (by law she can enter into contracts and has all the rights of an adult except drinking) was dating a boy that her parents did not approve of (that just described about half the parents in America I would guess). She got pregnant. So they kidnapped her to force an abortion.
They live in Maine, but were taking her to New York. Why? They had to pass through several states to get there that all allow abortion (it is the Northeast after all), so why not just do it in Maine or New Hampshire or even Vermont?
The innunedo in the article is they had found a 'doctor' in New York that would do it, no questions asked. But that will probably never be known, and I am sure the 'doctor' in New york will deny any complicity with this couple.
But I have several things to say to these 'parents'.
1. Forced abortion is not tough love.
2. Forcibly taking a 19 year old, regardless of her relation to you, is Kidnapping.
3. Trying to force your daughter to give up a man you think is a mistake will only drive her closer to him.
And 4. Your rights with your daughter ended when she turned 18. Better get use to the idea that she has her own life now, and if you persist, it will not include you.
