Some college republicans, in what is poor taste, have been lampooning national democrats by firing paint balls and BB guns at their pictures. And in that, given the age and hormonal status of college kids, it is not news! It is adolescence.
But what makes it news is that Howlin Howie Dean sent a scathing letter to Ken Melman DEMANDING he put a halt to it! As if the Leader of the RNC (or even the DNC) could reign in such shenanigans. Not hardly.
But (Note this for some JU members), Ken Mehlman said he could do NOTHING about them as they were not sponsered by, nor a part of the RNC, he called the actions "reprehensible". Actually a very adequate and appropriate response.
But he went on. Dean demanded of Mehlman:
"As Chairmen of America's two major political parties, we have a responsibility to elevate the political discourse in America," Dean wrote. He asked Mehlman to denounce and put a stop to events that "breed only hatred, division and fear."
A responsibility to elevate the political discourse? Wait, which one of my 16 deanism should I pull up? Ah! I dont need to, as Ken Mehlman gracefully responded:
Mehlman cited speeches in which Dean said, "I hate the Republicans and everything they stand for," and in which he said a lot of Republicans "have never made an honest living in their lives."
Mehlman should have also demanded of Dean why he does not reign in the racist bigots of moron.org. But Mehlman is smarter than Dean and knows that Dean does not control them, any more than Mehlman controls a bunch of adolescents on a college campus. And while Mehlman does condemn the actions of the right, dean is so very silent on the hatred, putrid bigotted racism on the left.
I guess we have a Pot calling an aluminum pan black. Without bothering to look in the mirror and see the stain on their face. Again.
