Debate, and discuss, just dont Bore me.

I just finished re-watching "Ship in a Bottle" and I still love it!  This is a totally harmless exercise in the 'grey cells" as Hercule Poirot would say.  Barclay inadvertantly resurrects the Moriarity character from another episode (no Wrath of Khan here), and then Moriarity proceeds to dupe Data and Picard, until they realize they are being duped!

In the end, of course, Picard and Data turn the tables and put the Hologram Moriarity back in storage.  As we knew they would.

But why do I love it so?  Plots within Plots within Plots!  It is a racing 60 minutes that actually makes the brain work (unless you are just there for the ride).

My Rating?  5 stars for Ship in a Bottle!  best Episode of any of the series!

And to think I was going to trash it after Far Point Station.  Whew!  Glad I gave them time.

I'd have to agree that it was an excellent episode-that was a totally cool twist at the end when Moriarity had 'escaped' and was running 'free' in a sim. I have so many faves, two that got to me were "The Survivors" and "Darmok".

yea, it is so hard to pick a great one.  Darmok is up there.  But I liked how Ship in a Bottle was really all mental!  I know that Picard had to win, but if it was not a series, I think Moriarity would have!

Very cool episode!

My nomination for best ever isn't the one in which my avatar first appeared (though Wrath is my nominee for best movie)

TOS - Balance of Terror

No wierd aliens (well, just Romulans)
An honorable enemy that is "human" and trying to do the right thing from his perspective
The "ethics" of going to war versus keeping the peace
Dealing with racism
Marrage, death, battle, tactics, and the toll of command
Scotty trying to get more power while Spock tries to hot wire the phasors
All this in between the best battle scenes (story wise, not FX) Star Trek ever produced!

Think I'll go home and get out the VHS and watch it tonight.

My favorite would have to be Shore Leave Link from the original series.

I had all kinds of cool fantasies about that one!

TOS - Balance of Terror

Yea, one of Gene's best wishful thinking ones.  But I think the ending was his reality that some men (aliens?) just cannot be dealt with in a rational matter.

No need to see the link.  I know that one.  Yes, in the early series, it was the holodeck version of a great time!  Except for Spock.

"Who Watches the Watchers"

The Picard!  nah, that one just was too hokey how they accepted it all.  But it was a great one!

Original Series: The Trouble with Tribbles and A Piece of the Action
Next Generation: The Royale

First 2 are great!  yea, a Piece of the Action was one of my favorites!

But the Royale?  Close to the worst!  I hated it!

Did you see the Original Khan show?  It is one of my favorites as well.  Maybe because I loved "de plane!  De plane!".

And I want a Tribble!

Hmmm.....I love them all dearly, so to pick just one. Well. How 'bout two...one from each of my favorite series.

I'll stick to TOS and TNG. I never really got too deeply into DS9 or Voyager.

TOS: The obvious fan fave would have to be "City on the Edge of Forever", but I'll go with "Amok Time"---You know why I picked this one, Doc!

TNG: "Tapestry", where Picard is severely injured and nearly killed on an away mission, and Q apparently snatches his soul away at the last instant. Q takes him on a tour of his past, giving him the opportunity to remake his life. Things don't wind up exactly as he'd have liked. Favorite scene:

Picard, in a limbo of white light, faces Q, robed in white.

Q: "You're dead.....and I'm God."

Picard: "Haha--you are not God! I refuse to believe the universe is so poorly designed!"

Q: "Blasphemy! You're lucky I don't smite you, or cast you out or something."

Although, I did like the episode of DS9 where Sisko, supposedly killed in a transporter accident, I think it was, travels through time and visits his son, Jake, at various points in his future life. That was a cool one.

Because they were primitive.

Yes, I remember!

TNG: "Tapestry",

I have that one.  It came as a box set with all the Startrek Movies (before Nemises).  It is ok.

Because they were primitive.

But then aren't we all in the greater pespective?

I couldn't pick a favorite episode. There were a few I didn't like, but I couldn't say I can choose one to say is my favorite.
