I really did!  This one is slick!  Official looking and all.  My ACCOUNT is DISABLED!  LOL!  But they made one glaring error.  The link in the message is at the bottom of the article.  mouse over it, you do not have to click it.  And you will see the error.

Oh, they made one other glaring error.  They used my wrong email account!  But it is slick!  Best scam I have seen in many months!

....and I think "Oh, my....do I have an account I never new existed....in a bank I have never been into? Gosh...I must dash off and send them my particulars....."

So I'm not the only person in OZ to get these, after all. I started getting letters from the 'NAB' requesting bank account and financial details so my credit card could be processed...still wouldn't have fallen for it even if I had an account with them...simply don't want a CC, it's cash or nothing.

Thing is, no sooner had the bogus NAB letters ceased, I started getting some from ST George, supposedly ....same thing, seeking account details, etc. Again they were ignored and tossed, but a few weeks later I got a bogus Bendigo Bank letter requesting the same...big mistake there, the name and signature were identical to that on one of the NAB ones. Maybe now the cops have enough to go on to nab these scabs.

There were 3 of these in my mailbox this morning.

not to mention they used "detect" wrong. should have been "detected"

anytime you get something like this with spelling and grammatical errors...it's a scam.

Apparently as many as 10 people in one area fell for that one, though they've been reminded dozens of times to be careful (some people are just way too gullible!)

Same here at my work.  The only virus we have gotten in the last 3 years was one Symantec was not fast enough on, and 2 users opened the attachment! (It was a zip, so it got through the filters).  You can tell them until you are blue in the face, but some people just never listen.

They are probably hiding out in Somalia, where the cops cannot touch them.

Sadly, as Terpfan said, some will answer it.

I figure they will get smarter eventually, so anytime I get anything asking for personal information I move it to my Scam folder (unless I just delete it as spam).

My boss's wife answered something similiar. Within 1 hour they had charged over $10,000 to the credit card.

When I get the paypal scam emails (they're getting good at it, let's face it), I put the email in a folder, and I manually head over to paypal and log into my account. Obviously, if there's a problem, they'll let me know as soon as I log in. Once I verify that there is not a problem, I pull the email from the folder and report it as spam.

It does not take them long.

That should be posted everytime you log into paypal and you have to click ok to proceed.  Some would still not follow it (or not read it), but perhaps a few would.  Excellant advice.
