I always loved that line (the title) from Star Trek (Sorry DJ, it was from the original - but a great episode). But this is not about Star Trek. But it fits.
Day 3 of the new baby!
Yes, that adorable little kitten named Sally. My wife told me 'she sleeps through the night". And I am from the government to help you, the check is in the mail, yada, yada yada!
She does not. fortunately, she does sleep to about 4/4:30am and then wants to play. As I have gotten older, I now actually wake up about then. usually I try to get back to sleep, but for the last 3 nights, I have been playing with Sally. She plays for an hour or so, and then tires, and curls back up to her mother, either around her head, or in the crook of her neck. But for an hour or so, it is just us, and she is spunky! No, she is not going to replace the others, she will just add to them.
But what fascinates me now is how quickly she bonded to my wife. It seems that my wife is her mother (not a snort ParaTed)! So quickly! She will play with me and has no problems with me - when my wife is not around! But if we are both here? I am invisible!
No, I dont mind. It is apparent that wherever she was, she was not a wild cat. She knows litter and she is clean. So it makes me wonder what cold hearted person dumped her on the side of the road. They could have waited for her to be weened (she is almost weened) at least and then taken them to the pound. I do thank God that a kind person found her, and that my wife was available to take her (please! Do not send your strays). perhaps it was just meant to be.
Whatever, she is adorable. The verdict from the other cats? 50/50. Half dont care, and the other half hiss. They will get over it. After all, they were 50/50 before we merged households and they get along (kind of but not us vs them) now. Interestingly enough, the 50/50 splits the (what we call) Babies and boys. Sammy (boy) is fine, Sampson and Suzy (Babies) are also fine. Sinum, Scotty (boys) and Serena hiss!
Cats are interesting people!
