Debate, and discuss, just dont Bore me.

My Wife flew to Dallas to visit her friend and her friends Mother for the weekend.  The flight is 'kind of' free (her friend works for American, so American does not get any money, just the feds and the airport which usually amounts to $100-200!)  She flies down there 3 or 4 times a year leaving my son and I to have a bachelor weekend, which is fine.

But this one was different.  First because my son was not down this weekend (it being Mother's day, his mother gets him).  OK, so it was kind of a boring weekend.  And then she came home.

She called Sunday afternoon, and told me the flight and the time she was arriving, and inquired about my aunt (who just went into the hospital).  That was the extent of the conversation.

Then she came down the gangway.  Carrying.........an animal carrier!  Surprise!  It seems her friends father, who lives in Oklahoma, found a baby stray cat.  A real baby!  It is only about 3 weeks old.  The father, living alone could not keep it, and the friend, with 3 German shepherds, was afraid to!  So my wife said she would.  Sally is a cute little girl (yes, her same now is Sally) and we are bottle feeding her for now.  But she is very little.  4 of the other cats have now been introduced to her.  The Alpha Female (there was only 2 females before) does not care for her, but since it looks like her cousin, she will get use to it (yea, we now have 4 Mary Cats).

Sally slept most of the night in the carrier, but my wife let her out about 4am.  At first she was bounding from my wife to me, back and forth.  She tired of that after half an hour and went back to sleep.  Where?  Curled up on my wife's neck!  Her new mother!

So that makes 4 of our cats that were 'rescued' from certain death.  The other 3 are about 3 years old now, and getting fat and lazy.  Along with my wife's 3 'boys' that she has had for almost 10 years now, that makes 7!

I think it is time to move my retirement 401ks to Purina Cat Chow.  Might as well get something back for the money I am spending.

My Wife and I just cannot see cats, whose only crime was to be born to bad owners, be put down.  We dont "Look" for them, but they do find us.  Fortunately, it would have been 8, but another neighbor adopted 'scooter'.  About a 6 month old male that was healthy, but unowned and not neutered.  They neutered 'scooter'.

Aww! Congrats on the new baby! I love kittens. My cat sleeps in our bed with us everynight, and often I find her curled around my neck. It is the cutest thing because she will actually wrap her arms around my neck as if she is hugging me! She just makes me melt sometimes! You and your wife have very big hearts and must be very compassionate to take in all those strays. Good for you!

This poor little baby is so small (she fits in one of my hands and I do not have big hands), that she just curls her whole self in the crook of my wife's neck.  If she does it again tonight, I am getting a picture of it.

Take good care of your kitty. My son is allergic so no cats at my house. We do occassionally have strays find their way to our door and I just ask every person I see until I find someone to take it. I tried to get my husband to take one to the pound while it was still little and cute and might get adopted but he wouldn't because he was afraid it would get put down. Luckily we found someone to take her. I tried to be hard hearted and not pick her up and definately not name her. Then you're committed. Hopefully we won't have any more to worry about. I had a cousin tell me that he had a friend who would get kittens at the pound to feed to his snake. I don't know if that's true but it freaked me out enough that I would never take one to the pound. Poor kitties.

What a gorgeous little kitten she is too. Wow, your wife and you must be good people to allow the insanity of seven cats in your house. We share our lives with one of these beautiful creatures and she has enough craziness to keep us laughing all the time. I can't imagine what it must be like with seven of them.

It would not surprise me.  My older sister had a boyfriend who kept snakes, and he use to get them live food that way.

In one respect, they are just like people.  Each with their own personality.  There is the alpha male who deigns to grace us with his affecftion on occassion, the Mean one who thinks the whole house belongs to him.  The Cross eyed Himalayan that would never hurt a flea - except the spunky little one (not the baby).  Then the grand dame of the bunch.  She is the most affectionate, the 'ring through the nose' male that is led around by the spunky little one.
