Remember this headline from 15 years ago?

Iran Threatens Israel if U.S. Attacks

Replace the N with a Q and what do you have?  Gulf War I.  Replace a mad mullah with Saddam, and the story remains the same.  Except this time, no one needs to kick the mad mullahs out of anything.  So what does it means?

It means that Israel has nothing to lose if Iran continues on its course.  Iran is basically inviting the Israelis to remove a threat from its existance.  And unlike Iran, Israel's forces are up to date and snuff.  Between shared technology and stolen technology (I have no illusions about Israel not spying here), Iran is no match.  And they just signed their own poison.

Stupid is as stupid does.  And these empty craniums are as stupid as they get.  The only wonder is that they are not blonde.

I dont think so.  Was there when they took out Iraq's Nuclear plant?  This is actually more different as the arab world does not like Iran or its Mullahs.  And it will be spun as self defense.  Afterall, when do you take a threat seriously?  When they kill your loved ones?  Or when they tell you "they are dead!".  I wont wait for the act, I will take the perp out after the threat is issued. Not after they follow through on it.

The major difference in Iran, and kind of different than you describe, is that it isn't a mad mullah or a totalitarian regime. Iran is functionally a Democracy, and the people voted for the wang that is in power. IMHO that takes a load off the guilt factor when there is collateral damage.

I see Iran as no more of a "democracy" than Iraq was.  Sure the people vote, but the Mad Mullahs have the final say, and no one votes for them.

As it is, I dont see them backing down.  And the world community (the Useless nations) will dictate the outcome.  If they stay true to form. It will be Israel.  The gauntlet is down.

I don't see it that way. During the last election they had choices and they picked this guy who was known to be just exactly what he is. When speeches are given, it isn't mullahs giving them, it is the president. People cheer and it doesn't appear at all to me to be forced.

I watched an hour long speech he gave during their revolution day celebration, and the difference in what we are describing isn't as subtle as you might thing. There's a difference between brainwashed religious people and people our there waving flags, carrying banners and carrying their kids on their shoulders, just like the fourth of july here. It didn't have the same feel as Hussein's staged parades and speeches.

For that reason, we have to take a totally different tack in dealing with Iran, or it will be a disaster. No US infantry should touch foot in Iraq until we have complete and total surrender. We aren't going to be liberating anyone in a nation that really chose its government.

'Mad Mullah' is a nice way of simplifying things, but in Iran things aren't that simple. Dealing with them will be a whole heck of a lot more like "real" war, i.e. where you are fighting a whole nation focused on you, instead of fighting a regime that most people there secretly hates and will stand by and watch you pulverize. The opposition in Iran will be strongly motivated.

The issue is what would other Moslem countries do if Israel were to attack Iran? If Israel were to use nuclear weapons it could be the spark that unites all the countries that encircle Israel to respond. Look at a map. Israel has a powerful armed force but unless God intervenes on the side of Israel, they can not win a war against a united Moslem world that was prepared to destroy them.

They have before, in recent history. You overestimate the cohesiveness of the Middle East. Most of those nations hate each other. I don't believe for a moment that there is any circumstance possible that would cause them all to attack Israel at once.

I actually agree with this. It's called Armageddon. Iran is a major player in end time prophecy with their upcoming attack on Israel. This is not about if but when this will happen. Only God knows.
