Debate, and discuss, just dont Bore me.

In what can only be described as a satire of putrid hate, the loons on the far left have gone off the deepend again.  As some may know, Dick Cheney took advantage of the elimination of the charity ceiling that congress passed in the wake of Katrina.  Prior to last fall, you were limited to deducting 50% of your income in charitable donations.  But since the ceiling was removed, you could bet the farm and donate as much as you wanted.

Dick Cheney did.  he donated 77% of his income to charity.  What a great guy, right?  Or at least a noble deed, right?  hardly!  Look at what some of the loony loopy luddite left had to say about Dick Cheney's generosity:

Why is this man not in jail?

How does this guy sleep at night? This administration makes me sick to my stomach. They are sooooo corrupt.

This administration has no shame.
They are "do as I say, not as I do" people

REPREHENSIBLE, totally devoid of any moral values, ...a true, dyed-in-the-wool Robber Baron.

We need a perp-walk, and we need it now.

I wonder how much each of these twerps donated last year.  I bet is was about a buck 50 each.

Since when is that a "bad" thing, steven?
I made no such inference; on the contrary, it is a good thing.

Maybe you and Doc M can share a cell...and give tax advice via the internet.

Psst!  My favorite cake is Carrot cake - with a real bite if you know what i mean!

Something weird happened so I deleted my thought. Way out of order?

Just donated too much of it?

Sort of like "The Shawshank Redemption"?

Tova!  Lock me up now!  I am so tired of that movie!  I confess!  i did my own taxes!  Please dont show that movie again!

Your link is misleading since the comments are not directly related to charity donations.

Uh, yes they are.  The only 'misleading' part, if you can call it that, is the fact that Cheney promised (but was not obligated under the law) to donate.  Promises and Politicians.  Those who keep them should at least get an acknowledgement, not a bonfire.

more accurately, you earn $1 million, you pay someone to work it out so you're able to keep all your money until tax time--and then pay only what you can't avoid after employing every means to avoid doing so.

Better recheck you math.  As they pay over 50% of the taxes, while you with your paltry deductions, pay not a whit.  Working the system are we?  Me thinks me smells a hypocrit.

Yup. Except I will help you escape....just tell me which rock you hid the money under.

Not until I get that special cake!

Is anyone really surprised that the administration's opponents are making an issue now of what they knew 5 years ago was going to happen "irrevocably"?

Surprised?  No.  Saddened?  yes.  By the lack of acknowledgement on the part of the supposed honest left.  I guess that is now an oxymoron.

But I will add, that not everyone pays Uncle Sam first. If you are self-employeed, you can pay quarterly, or just file at the end of the year depending on your salary for the previous year.

Quarterly payments are still before the fact.  If you do not pay up front, you get penalized.  Period.  Regardless of your method.  Thus is the nasty of the government.

That is why I bought your book!
