As Trudy would say, the big but.
Before last week, I had never heard the name of Claude Allen. I admit I have not paid attention to every judicial nominee that Bush has made. After last week, we were told in intimate detail how this was a Bush Crony, and of course by inference how crooked the whole Bush administration must then be. OK, that is politics and if this was about the reporting, that is where it would go, but with so many politics of hate, that would be a poor footnote on the debate.
What I did not hear, and did not read (and I will admit that I did not read every account of this kleptomania) was the race of Claude Allen. Until today. Then across my desk comes an opinion piece by an Erin Kaplan (I grant you I have not heard of her before either) that is the worst piece of racist garbage I have ever seen!
I don't support conservatism in its current iteration, and I support black conservatives even less, but we cannot ignore the racial implications of this latest Republican fall from grace.
See? She hates black conservatives more! WOW! Ignore the racial implications? What racial implications? A MAN tried to defraud a store and got busted! Period! His race is of no concern!
Here is a decidedly white-collar black man getting clipped for a blue-collar crime associated with economic necessity, one that practically guarantees prison time for most black men in this country.
Here comes that big butt, but you got to admire her rainbow language.
It's hard to imagine that such compromises and cognitive dissonance don't exact a psychological toll at some point, and Allen's alleged dabbling in crime might have been that point for him.
Yup! And she drops that other shoe! Seems in her book that blacks cannot endure the stress like whites (or Asians or Hispanics I gather).
So she is saying that he cracked because he was black, but he is going to get nailed because he is black (or more precisely, blacks get nailed). Instead of looking at a man who for whatever reason, committed a crime, she sees a black man who cannot cope with his race and politics and who cannot function in society because of it.
And they say republicans are racist? Give me a break! This woman should be fired for being openly and overtly racist, and does not even realize how stupid her whole piece is.
Racism still exists in America. In the Klan and liberals with condescending attitudes about blacks.
Thank you Erin Kaplan for showing America the insidiousness of racism, and how it still festers in the halls of liberaldom.
