Debate, and discuss, just dont Bore me.

Last night I was getting new Cell phones for my wife and I.  NBD, just new phones (as mine was a wreck and we dont want to have 2 sets of adapters).

We do Verizon.  And they are good enough and not BSing me (as I had already researched on the web).  But since we were doing a 2 year contract and plus a $50 rebate, my phone was free.  And so was hers due to the BOGO.  But that is not the story.

While waiting for them to transfer the numbers to the new phone, a guy (probably about 22) called over the Intercom: "gary to the Technical desk".  Gary came over.  he was the guy who met me at the door and once he figured out I had pre-shopped, left me alone.

So the tech guy tells him "UNC is losing!  48-30!".  And oh the wails went up!  I jumped in (after all, I was just waiting) and we started talking about history!  None of these guys were older than 25!  But one guy said something about Duke!  Say what?  Duke was a nothing before Coach K!  for that matter UNC was not too hot either.  SO we joked and joshed and I got my phones and left.

This Morning I learned the final score.  UNC beat georgia Tech!  I got to give Gary a call and let him know not to gloat too much!  But it sure was fun to hear the score after the Tech paged him to the desk!  I dont guess the tech (Malcolm) is feeling too chipper now!

It would have been a great game. I was too busy watching the Olympics.

I was a slave to the people there!  But as it turned out, it was a great game!

Now, Mr. Blue Devil, do you know the history of Duke?  Tis ok if your knowledge is just from you life time!

Sorry, I got to call them and talk to gary!  yea I know!  Blue Devs are king of the crop. Now!

when was carolina not that hot. from 1963 to 2005, they won 14 ACC championships, and played in 6 NCAA March Madness Final Games (of which they won four). That doesn't seem so bad to me.

ACC... meh. Give me PAC-10 any day, or even Big Ten. I would watch the Arizona Wildcats 100 times out of 100 before I'd watch an ACC game.

I met Coach Mike Dougherty at Disney World, though, in May 2002. It was the summer before his mighty bad season at Chapel Hill. I also saw Jermaine O'Neal from the Indiana Pacers there.

You missed the time reference. Before Coach K. Which means back in the 70s and earlier (I think Coach K came in 79, but I am sure a Blue devil will correct me).

And in any event your math is a little off. They were in 7, and won 4. They lost 3. And only one of those 4 victories coming in the "bad times" when UNC was known for choking (as even your stats indicate) in the NCAA. hence my 'tongue in cheek' claim of "Not that great either".

I will keep this a secret so you are not tarred and feather since you live in ACC country now!

What else are you going to do while waiting in a store?

Wild that those dirty 'heels lost today. I didn't expect them to lose yet, though I didn't have them making it to the final 4 in my bracket picks (Go B.C. and UCLA!)
