Debate, and discuss, just dont Bore me.

A Man in Florida decided he was tired of Christmas, so he hung a Santa, bound, gagged and blindfolded, in his yard.  His neighbors were noticeably upset, but the man claimed free speech for his display.

I can understand his frustration, as we all know that Christmas is very commercial, and when I first heard about it, I laughed!  It sounded funny.  But then someone pointed out that it would traumatize the children.  I wont go that far, but it does send them the wrong message.  I think most children can tell the difference between a statue and a real person, but then they are getting exposed early to some people's hate.  I guess kids cant be kids for very long as some people just want to make them little adults at a very young age.

My children have always been taught that Santa is not real. But we've been careful to balance that with a reminder that they shouldn't spoil their friends' fun by telling them he's not real. This guy's a douchebag in my book (hey, free speech, right?)

It could be worse, you know, he could have hung a Jesus figure. Hmm...now there's a political statement!

... I was thinking of it that way. Maybe he was protesting the commercialism of Christmas? ... I don't know. Maybe he's just a sick puppy.

I don't know. Maybe he's just a sick puppy.

I would hope he is an example of "Act in Haste, repent in Liesure".

Maybe he was protesting the commercialism of Christmas?

Maybe he is a 30 year old man living in his Mom's basement and she *just* told him that there was no Santa.  Being so distraught, he picked up the light-up santa from the yard and went all postal on it.  He was then heard to say: "next she is going to tell me the Easter bunny isn't real, either......"

The article is not longer available to read nor any pictures available to look at, so Judging by the comments I get a mixed feel.

I reckon it was done as a joke that backfired since everyones reaction was mostly negative? Personally I think it sounds absolutley hilarious!

In one sense it is. WE can laugh at it. But in another it is sad. Would you want your pre-teen child to see it?

I dont begrudge his rights, but I am glad my children never saw it.
