Debate, and discuss, just dont Bore me.

Yep!  I went out and bought a Dell Notebook for my Wife!  Complete with wireless so she can sit and watch TV while she does her work.  And I was impressed with the prices!  Just when you think they cant get any lower, they do!

This one comes with most of the bells and whistles.  I did not get a DVD burner, but that is about the only thing it does not come with.  And all for about a grand!  It helped that I do business with them regularly, so I could buy off their Small Business site.

My wife had a dinosaur that she paid a fortune for about 6 years ago (before we met).  It is still a viable computer, but sits unused in the computer room.  This little baby cost about 1/3 the price, has 6 times the horses and twice the memory (and a 15.4" screen!).  I usually stay away from notebooks as I do like to tinker and add things to my units, but she likes to watch TV while she is doing her case work, so a notebook was best (she is using my work one right now, and that is a real dog).

So I dont worry about Keeping up with the Jones'.  I am keeping up with the Dharmas!

W00t! Dude! You got a dell!

I LOVE my laptop. It's just fabulous. I love that on a Sunday morning I can sit in bed with my laptop, drink coffee and read the papers and my emails.

THAT'S what I call living large....

I may be next. I've been considering a notebook for a while. After all, what good is travelling if you can't take your friends and skins with you?

The notebook is actually a 2fer, since we frequently (2-3x per year) fly to California, and she likes to watch DVDs on the planes.

So now I have a spare portable DVD Player.  Anyone want one?

That's what I have....I love my Dell Laptop. I also sit in front of TV with my Dell on my lap. It's a gal thing...we can do two things at the same time and not miss a beat!! Even got a new phone wire put in right next to my comfy chair.

It's also nice going on long trips. I can get alot done in the car (not driving at the same time...of course.......) including watching DVD's. Got my headphone which is necessary because the sound of the engine muffles the sound.of the movie. Gotta be able to hear of all Mel....don't ya know? Next on my list is an adapter that plugs into the car for longer use!!!

She's gonna love it!!

I have to upgrade my computer about every 2 years!  That is one of the reasons I dont like a notebook.  But she is ahead of me there.  Maybe my next computer will be a notebook - nah!  I like have multiple drives and CD/DVDs!

I am super Geek.  I have half the house wired for Ethernet, and a Cable Modem.  I got her the wireless so she does not have to hassle with wires, but I have computers in half the rooms of my house (for my son's use as well as mine).

Dr. Guy, I have had a Dell laptop for two years now. Congrat on your wifes new one! I love my laptop, but I believe because it's portable, there is more risk to damage. So, I really feel the best thing I did for myself when I bought it was to pay for the complete care warranty. It covers those spills, and even if you were to drop it and completely smash the thing into smitherines, they would replace it. I've had numerous occations to have to call them. The moment they know you have complete care they move into action. And things are quick! One morning I called them to tell them the top cover was loose and that I thought some pixels in the screen were damaged. They had DHS at my house that afternoon. That was a Tuesday. They shipped it to Texas (I'm across the country in Masachusettes) and they returned it to me with a new cover and sscreen by that Thursday!! Quite impressive. But it was ONLY because I had complete care warranty. It's expensive, but I'm sure I ultimately recieved my money's worth!!

Great minds think alike! While I would never get an extended warranty on a desktop, I got the 3 years on this one! I may be a geek, but I did not get that way by being stupid!

Thanks for the tip!

Heh! Nor would I for a desktop! Hehe! I don't think you'll be sorry for paying the extra for the laptop, though!! Good luck to you and your wife!

Update for all!  It came Yesterday!  before my wife came home, so it is hidden!  I am dying to open it, but have to wait until she is at work, and I am not!
