Inquiring Minds want to know.

Recently an article was posted stating that an American Helicopter was downed in Iraq and that 17 American Soldiers were missing.  The article then went on to demand that we pull our troops out of Iraq.

The problem is, the helicopter was downed in Afghanistan.  Once the error was pointed out, I asked the author if that meant we should pull our troops out of Afghanistan.  To which no answer was received.  So I ask you.  All the ones against war in any battlefield, should we make a unilateral withdrawal from Afghanistan?

That is question #1

Question #2 is should we pull them out of Iraq before the Iraq security forces are ready to defend their country against invaders, for it is foreign agents that are now doing most of the terror activity in Iraq, not citizens of that country (al Zarqawi is Jordanian, not Iraqi).

Please feel free to answer in any form you prefer.

And for the Record and some perspective, I would suggest that everyone read Shadowar's Article here:

I support the war in Afghanistan, and our work is far from over there. Personally, I feel that we need MORE troops (and funding) in Afghanistan in order to accomplish our goals there.

As for Iraq, we can't leave now. We have an obligation to continue working over there until we have accomplished our goals or until we are asked to leave. I hate this because I hate to see our troops in danger day in and day out in a war where every line is a front line and where they are required to stay for sometimes longer than a year and a half at a time, but we must continue fighting the insurgency and attempting to restore stability in Iraq. We are obligated to do so.

Having said that, if Bush said today that starting tomorrow, we're pulling all our troops out of Iraq, we'd be having a celebratory party at my house.

You have always been honest and intelligent in your views.  I expected no less.  I think if Bush announced the withdrawal tomorrow, 250+ million would celebrate.  The Conservatives because they trust that the Iraqis were properly trained and in place, the Moderates and left of center because of the same reason or because they hated the war to begin with.

Then there are the DU bunch.  They would hate it, justbecause that is all they have left.

Hey why americans still want to stay in iraq, ithink they have got him,

Then why ? looking out for their resources ?

I'll go along with what Texas Wahine said! If the job is completed, and the Iraqi government no longer needs our troops to fend off the terrorist insurgency, I'd gladly join in on the celebration.

However, if all a pullout of troops would become is a turning over of Iraq to the terrorists, 250 Million would celebrate, but 23 Million Iraqis would wonder why we bothered "helping" them in the first place, and what we had to celebrate.

As far as question #1, an aircraft incident is no reason to end our efforts in Afghanistan. 17 dead Americans is a sad situation, but whether it's Iraq, Afghanistan (or any other nation), turning our backs on a nation we swore to help gain freedom wouldn't be sad, it would be a catastrophic crime against humanity.

That makes absolutely no sense.

I agree.  But some are not so honest, and to them, the Iraqis be damned.  They just want to CY their A.

I have a feeling that the silly children spouting simplistic opinions like "BRING OUR TROOPS HOME NOW!!" are too young to remember the scenes of bloody carnage that played out in our living rooms following the withdrawal of US troops from Vietnam, far before they were able to defend themselves.

Worse, those "humanitarians" who want us out of Iraq and/or Afghanistan now, don't care how many are slautered, as long as they can sit fat and happy about ending the war.

Anyone who says we should pull our troops out of Iraq or Afghanistan before the job is complete, deserves nothing but derision and a wad of spit in their pathetic ugly faces.

Yanno what, I've been meaning to write about this...and I'm going to do it now.

And as usual, you did a great job.

Some really are clueless, and dont realize that what they are advocating is akin to genocide.  Then there are the others that desrve what you speak of.

Para, you seem a little more wound up lately than usual...you ok, buddy?

I think the issues are just hitting closer to home these days with the whackos.

Yeah, actually my condition is acting up again (kind of like why I didn't come around for a week). I don't know if it's going to keep me away again, but the rerun yesterday, and the lack of satire lately has had a lot to do with it.

Thanks for caring enough to notice.

((((Note, I did mean what I said though))) ;~D

No

They are where they need to be. Osama is still out there. If anything we need to tell the Pakis if they are going to do their part half assed, we are coming over the hill and finishing it.
