Yea, I have been around.  Kind of.  Enough to read Kelly's Masterpiece!  And a couple of other entries.  But not much.  ANd not all (appologies to those I missed).  WHy?

Well, some know that my son is here and my time with him is of premium importance (and for those keeping a stop watch, it is after midnight so stuff it).  But what none know, (well a couple) until now is my wife has been on a jihad to make 100 tamales!  It is the traditional food for Mexicans on New Years.  ANd we have not been very good at that lately.

Until this year!  SHe has deciced to make sure what our town was lacking for Mexicans (not Hispanics by the way), she was going to rectify!

So I have been chasing ingredients all over the city, and she has been using tubs - not bowls - to mix them!  ANd it is done.  I hope there is 100.  I am too tired to count.  And for those counting, yea, it aint new years, and it is after midnight!

I do love Tamales!  But after this year, I think I will do without.  Anyone want a tamale?  Red Chile Pork ones! (not hot, just spicy).  Finest kind!

Happy New Year Maso, Cacto, Toblerone, Island Gurl, and Champas.  Did I miss any of you down under?

ANd Have a happy new year to everyone east of the IDL.  See you in 2007!  And I hope all have a great one.

TT{yawn)FN!

Sounds like you're having fun, tired, but fun! Happy New Year Doc and enjoy the time with your son!

Ah, but the fun is over.  My son is back in school, and work intrudes.  But it was fun!  Thanks!  I hope your new year is better than any before!

You're giving up making them already? You're quitting? Don't let Al Davis hear you. He'll take back all of his paraphanelia.

My dad used to make them every year, but no longer even thinks about it. Too much damn work. Where I live you can get them any day of the week.

I say you should make them a Holiday tradition. Then if anybody asks you why you make them every Christmas you can answer by saying the old joke, "So we'll have something to unwrap." ::

Glad to see you back in rare form!  Hope your new year goes well.

As for around here, you cant really find any good ones, not even in the Latino markets.  That is why my Wife decided to make some.
