Debate, and discuss, just dont Bore me.

Quick!  What is the worst thing you can call a German?  What is the worst offensive gesture in Nigeria?

What is Shit in Spanish, French, and German?

How many of you know?  What if I had substituted Japanese, Chinese and Russian?

And the good old classic, Forced Unnatural Carnal Knowledge.  What is it in German and have you ever used it?

These are but a few questions I have for the Washington Post and a local talking head (or poop chute as that is where he orates from).  Quite simply, if you ask me what the worst insult in Hindi or Urdu is, I could not tell you.  And if you asked me the translation of Shit in Russian, I would give you a blank stare.

And until last week, I did not know that Macaca was a slur against anyone!  Hell!  I did not even know the word!  But apparently it is.  After Sen. George Allen called someone "Mr. Macaca, or whatever his name is".  But now he is being castigated by the holier than thou (who don't seem upset with the 2002 use of the N word by Sen Sheets Byrd).  Are we supposed to know EVERY slur that might exist in the known world?

That is so stupid as to be ludicrous!  Let me give you an even better example.

Tiger Woods was castigated for saying that he played like a Spaz in the British open last year.  Spaz in America is a very well accepted word that we use to describe an uncoordinated person.  No one on this side of the pond is offended, at least I have never heard a spaz object.  Yet in England it is apparently some type of slur because they use it to describe handicapped people.  And we supposedly both speak English!

Upon being told that his word was offensive (no one at first had even found the French connection which they use to derogatorily refer to Muslims), he Apologized.  But did that satisfy the 'unbiased' Press?  Hell no!  They are still hounding him on it.

And you know what? I hope they keep it up.  For when people realize that no one knows all 4000 languages in use today, much less all the slanderous slang of said languages, they will see that these poop chutes are acting like poop chutes.  And any word we utter can be an offense in some language or another.  Regardless of the intent.

Oh, if anyone wants to know the answer to the first 3 questions, just ask.  And for the record, Fick du in German will get you a night in the sack, not a smack.

England is renowned for being politically correct to the point of stupidity.

An example of it - local leisure centre held swimming session for women only 2 hours per week ( for those women too embarresssed to be seen half naked in public) - one male complained that he felt discriminated against - so they stopped the swimming session and about 40 women could not go swimming anymore.

i am british and proud of it, but when silly things like this happen I cringe!

Allen didn't call him "Mr. Macaca." He said, "this fellow here, macaca or whatever his name is." You can see it here: Link

Personally, I think it was ignorance on Allen's part--I don't think he was trying to be offensive, or even knew he was being offensive. I think the apology should be enough.

I do find it interesting as well that Allen said he was going to personally apologize at the next campaign rally, and all of a sudden this guy is no longer going to any of them (after trailing around Allen for a while).

Fear not dear lady!  I am American and proud of it too, and say that you have no monopoly on silly things!

I know.  I did not have the exact transcript.  And indeed, until now, I did not know it was even a derogatory term!  But I see that you are at least more perceptive than your Newspaper.

I don't.  I think Webb decided to make sure he was not there.  It is politics after all, and I dont really fault Webb for making hay while the sun shines.  I do fault the Washington post for making a mountain out of a molehile.

Oh...duh, I knew that...guess it kinda slipped my mind.

Just remember 3 things about German.

#1: A lot of words are the same, or very similar as English

#2: S never is followed by H except in deshalb (a compound word)

#3: The action verb always comes at the end of the sentence, or before the prepositional phrase!

Now you can speak German.  Except when they do compound words!  oi Vey!

I know a handful of German words...if that much. Not too good with those kinds of languages, though the pronunciation is fun to practice. I don't think I've ever spoken a German phrase besides what I read off of the instructions you get in some appliances.

I'll stick to Spanish for now...I'm fairly good at that.

I am learning it.  I took it back in middle school (pre-historic days), but my wife's family switches between spanish and english, so I got to keep up!

German?  I took 4 years and lived there 2.  I have forgotten a lot, but it is easy and comes back naturally.  Except the gender of the nouns.

Actually in the Jamaican Patois or Patua as the locals call it Caca is a curse word. Used with the right combination: 'Caca faut' or another colorful one 'Cacky hole' are not nice to say to anyone! [runs to wash mouth out with soap, my mom would be aghast![lol!

They are making a mountain out of molehill though, he has apologized and didn't know the word was used there in reference to that. BTW, isn't that itself not nice since it is a slur there?

Not sure I understand that.  What is not nice?

But thanks for the education!  I remember my sister doing the german equivalent of the eff word, and the German laughing at her!  But I did learn the nasty one for the Germans.  But they are so nice, I have never had the occassion to use it!  mer....Oops!
