Debate, and discuss, just dont Bore me.

It seems a Canadian has done what the US government and all the laws of the land could not.  Made sex offenders scared!

IN an action that no one has been able to explain yet, Stephen Marshall picked some names off the Maine Sex Offender registry and went a hunting.  He killed 2 of them before killing himself.  While I can in no way condone his vigilante actions, apparently now many sex offenders are getting scared that someone else may try his trick.

Said one sex offender:

"It's really scary," said Raymond Roberts, a sex offender who is listed on the registry and lives near the victims. He asked that his hometown not be identified. "I live alone. I live way out in the country and basically I could be here for days, a dead body, shot."

I have no sympathy for Mr. Roberts.  For I can only imagine the daily horror his victims have to live through.  If they live at all (I assume so since he is not still in Jail).  While the murder of 2 of his fellow fraternity members was unjustified and wrong, I am not going to lose any sleep over his losing sleep.

Perhaps Stephen Marshall just persuaded a few potential sex crime candidates to rethink their ways.  If so, then at least there will be something good that comes out of his actions.

Yup, everyone that writes blogs like this always says: "Not that I condone killing people, but..." It falls pretty flat. After all, this guy accomplished what the law couldn't, right? That is the premis and all.

Eventually we won't have the registries anymore and you can just wonder about your neighbors. I don't care if they live in constant fear, I don't care if they live or die, but if we start saying that is a perk of the registry system we hand the ACLU and others the argument against them.

If that is the impression you got, then you got the wrong one.  This is not about "I hate killing but they deserved it....".  I dont know what the 2 who died did and if they deserved anything.  What I was commenting on was the fear and trepedation of those who were not targeted.

One thing we dont agree on is the death penalty.  Death is too easy and quick for those who richly deserve it.  Better for them to suffer a long and miserable life than get a quick and easy death.  And that is what a few of the sex offenders are going to get.

Some psychologist think that most violent criminals are really just scared little men (or women) inside.  This does tend to support that theory.
